"I could compare my music to white light which contains all colours. Only a prism can divide the colours and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."- Arvo Pärt, composer

RainBow Rider is an experimental album that includes both studio and live (direct to digital) improvisational work by Sam Utah. Using transwave synthesizers and samplers, this work has a classical structure with repeating themes. The inspiration, title, image and cover are used by permission from a painting by Downe Burns (www.downeburns.com). Although most of it is recorded live, or direct to digital media, at first, there are some loops and sequences Sam uses and creates on the spot for his compositions. However, most pieces have been "sweetened" in the studio with additional orchestration. This album is based on a "concept" and it includes Sam's impressions of a morning ride after the rainfall. A young rider mounts his Arabian mare and along with his dog they all ride out to a rainbow and then they go inside the rainbow for some "light-therapy". The rider finds the experience exhilarating and illuminating and that is represented in the songs. It was released January 2005.
